How would you feel about doing a challenge? Anthonette, one of my dear blogging buddies, suggested we do some challenges here at Kiyomi Krafts. Anthonette is a "challenge-a-holic" (heehee). Click on her name in the Be Inspired category on the left or you can click HERE to visit her blog. She participates in many challenges around the blogging world; if you're a challenge-a-holic or want to start participating in challenges I would highly recommend her site. She can direct you to many sites around the internet that will challenge your creativity and push you in your art.
So for our first Kiyomi Krafts Challenge I want you to create a card using.... **drum roll** .... crayons! Yes, crayons! We have an artist here in Hawaii by the name of Jeffrey Robert. His work is truly amazing and inspiring. Go to his site for some wonderful inspiration and to gather ideas. He also has a video showing techniques on how to use crayons which is nothing short of incredible.
I got the idea after reading Anthonette's latest entry. Kalino, her darling son, just graduated from preschool! Congratulations, Kalino! So in honor of her little man, let's have fun with it; it's time for the "big kids" to play. Take your babies crayons and make something spectacular! The only requirement is that you use crayons somewhere on your card, scrapbook page, altered art, or paper sculpture. You could color your images, make a background, do some resist with ink pads, or whatever you fancy! Leave your comment and link it to your blog to share with all of us. If you don't have a blog you can link it up to your splitcoast gallery. If you don't have either, you can send me a picture of your card as an email.
Hope you have fun. The family is at the dentist, so I will post my card later tonight. I can't wait to see what you come up with! If you participate your name will be entered in a drawing to win some fun stuff. I haven't decided what to give away yet, so when I do I will post that as well. Have fun!!!! Hugs, Jenn.
PS - if you send me a picture in an email please put the picture in the body of the email and not as an attachement. This way it will prevent and protect my Mac from viruses. Mahalo!
UPDATE:
Here is my two cards that I made. I'm actually in the car right now so I'll post supplies later. In the first card I used crayons to color Mr. Crab and the little shrimpies on the bottom. For the Cherish You card I used crayons to color the flowers on Kraft paper.

Aloha Jenn, this is perfect timing. I've was looking at Kalino's supply of Crayons last night. I had a bad headache yesterday, so I didn't get to try out a Crayon resist technique I saw on the Hero Arts Blog. I can hardly wait to play.

Well, I'm not sure what I think of the end result of my "crayon time". But thanks for a fun time in the craft room.
